Under the name Studio BOP (Birds of Paradise) I make light art from wood veneer.

My light objects have a unique appearance and, whether lit or not, provide a special, natural and attractive addition to your interior.

After my education at the University of the Arts in Breda, I gained a lot of experience in luxury interior construction by designing and creating high-end marquetry for clients from the world of Superyachts, luxury residences, hospitality and interior construction.

This means that I deliver quality with a large dose of craftsmanship.

I am naturally very curious and my heart beats faster when I see beautiful, natural and sustainable materials. This has led to the design and engineering of inlaid lamps, which are unique in their kind. With a lot of ‘trial and error’ and perseverance, we managed to make lamps from marquetry and now the possibilities appear to be endless!

In my studio in the old furniture factory ‘Van Gaasbeek en Van Tiel’ in Culemborg I translate my ideas into designs. Following this design, the sampling process begins.

What is beautiful in your head can turn out very differently in practice and vice versa. I find out which type of wood, size and type of lamp fits best and where both the design and the veneer look best. I then start the production process, making a maximum of 10 lamps. This keeps the lamps unique and I continue to challenge myself to create new designs. I can also design and make a custom-made lamp in consultation.

Are you curious, do you have a special wish and/or would you like to come by? Please do get in touch!

My studio is open exclusively by appointment.
